Throughout the world there are more than 120 countries committed to reaching net-zero emissions by 2050, including Canada. The government of Canada has even established a path to achieving net- zero. And even though Atlantic Canada generates a lot of renewable and clean electricity, we still emit our share of GHGs.

Reaching net-zero emissions doesn’t mean eliminating all emissions.

Emissions can be offset by increasing our ability to absorb the carbon before is released in the atmosphere through forests and by planting more trees! In Atlantic Canada, that’s one thing we do well. AND, it is a way to create biofuels!
