When it comes to heating homes and businesses, Prince Edward Island has 31 community-based biomass plants, making it the leader in Atlantic Canada for biomass heating. Wood pellets are made from combining sawdust, wood chips and other waste, and they can be used as a cost-efficient clean energy source for heating homes.

If you wanted to heat your home with wood pellets, how do you think that would work?

First, you’d need a pellet stove that is specifically designed to burn wood pellets. Then you would burn those wood pellets to produce heat. Depending on your heating system, that heat circulates through your house either as warm air or it heats water that gets circulated through your home.
