Offshore wind could steer Atlantic Canada’s clean energy future.

Offshore wind areas

Province of Nova Scotia

When paired with other developments like new transmission cables or green hydrogen production, offshore wind could provide a clean, abundant, and exportable form of energy. If this is interesting to you, I highly recommend learning more about clean hydrogen from Kristy!

For example, on July 29th 2025, the Governments of Nova Scotia and Canada designated four areas off the coast of Nova Scotia so companies can start investigating a pathway to develop offshore wind. There is an initial goal of generating five gigawatts of electricity by 2030 with offshore wind turbines. Nova Scotia wants to not only decarbonize the electricity grid but also support a growing demand for more electricity from various industries, such as the green hydrogen industry.
