Clean Energy Program Coordinator (12-month paid internship)

Clean Energy Connections Inc. and Atlantica Centre for Energy

Start Date: Mid-June, 2025

Term: 12 months minimum

Clean Energy Program Coordinator

Are you looking to contribute to a sustainable and prosperous future for Atlantic Canada? Do you have an interest in climate change, net zero or want to learn more about how energy will contribute to our region’s economic prosperity?

If you have any idea what those questions are about, this internship might be of interest to you. We are seeking a keen and social recent graduate who is looking for a break to get into an exciting career in energy.

The Clean Energy Program Coordinator is a 12-month internship that will focus on promoting interactive educational material for the Fuel 4 the Future project at in-person and virtual events throughout Nova Scotia. The program focuses on building an understanding of future career opportunities in renewable energy and clean fuels to post-secondary students and Indigenous youth.

It is important that you are able to communicate clearly, as the Coordinator will also help develop new educational material and seek out clean energy education opportunities for small communities and Indigenous communities. We are hoping to find someone with a personal interest in building interconnections between the various organizations and Indigenous communities to help connect their narratives to ensure a sustainable energy transition.

Other responsibilities will include creating content for social media, keeping the website up to date with events and new resources, tracking and reporting on project deliverables, and managing product for giveaways.

This job might not be Monday to Friday 9-5. What we will pay you for is 35 hours per week with a flexible schedule because you might be travelling and working odd hours. This means you must have a reliable vehicle or ability to rent with valid driver’s license (travel expenses will be paid).

We do not have an office in Nova Scotia, so you’ll need to have a professional space available to work virtually. We can provide you with a Windows laptop to use for work.

At minimum you have some post-secondary schooling with a college diploma or university degree program. You need to have excellent writing skills, but that doesn’t mean it comes from reading textbooks and doing multiple choice exams.

You must be comfortable speaking and interacting with the public in career fair and community engagement settings, or maybe that is a skill that you’d like to work hard to develop. You also should probably enjoy conducting research on new topics and writing succinctly in a way that is easy to understand. Energy is complex, and we will give you time and resources to explore. However, there is no course to take, so this needs to interest you enough to explore in a way that gets you up to speed pretty quickly! Maybe you’re the type that likes to learn a new skill by doing – that’s ok too, we’ll help with that, but you have to be motivated enough to ask good questions and do some work!

Because this internship is funded by an outside agency, we need to meet certain criteria. In order to be eligible for the internship, you need to:

  • Currently reside in Nova Scotia;
  • Be between the ages of 18 and 30 (inclusive);
  • Not currently be in school (or enrolled) full-time;
  • Self identify as Indigenous, or a youth living with a disability, or a woman, or a racialized youth, or a youth who is living in a Northern or Remote community;
  • Be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Protected Persons as defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada; and
  • Be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.

Apply by sending your resume with a captivating cover letter indicating how this internship would help you in your career goals. Please also briefly acknowledge how you meet the minimum criteria for this position.
