What surprised me most when investigating offshore wind was that the wind speeds in the Atlantic Ocean are some of the strongest and most consistent in the world.
(It doesn’t really surprise me given our typical windy days!)
But, what’s even more interesting is that I’ve learned we can use offshore wind turbines to harness that wind and generate A LOT of clean renewable energy.
There are a lot of moving parts in a wind turbine, so in order to better understand how wind energy is made, let’s go over the basics, step-by-step, even though it’s a complex process!
